7 Night Alaskan Cruise - Disney Wonder Days 1-3
Alaskan Cruise – The Ultimate Bucket List Holiday
Alaskan cruise is my ultimate bucket list holiday. It was a trip I had always dreamt of, and to combine it with my love for Disney made it truly incredible.
Our Itinerary:
Day 1 – Embark Vancouver (British Columbia)
Day 2 – Day at Sea
Day 3 – Glacier Viewing
Day 4 – Skagway
Day 5 – Juneau
Day 6 – Ketchikan
Day 7 – Day at Sea
Day 8 – Disembark Vancouver (British Columbia)
We stayed in an ocean-view stateroom on Disney Wonder. Many people recommend a balcony room, but we decided against it as we didn’t want to feel tied to our room instead of exploring the ship.
About Disney Wonder
Disney Wonder is Disney’s second ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. It is Ariel’s ship, with its maiden voyage on August 15, 1999. It’s the only Disney ship that sails to Alaska and, during the Alaskan winter months, travels to Australia and New Zealand. Tinker Bell is the ship’s godmother.

Day 1: Embarkation in Vancouver
Getting on the ship was smooth once we knew where to go, but I found the check-in process poorly signposted. Despite reading numerous blogs and watching vlogs, it wasn’t clear where to check in and drop off baggage. We eventually figured it out, and later in the day, we noticed more staff out helping guests find their way.
Once inside, we were directed to the waiting room for our group to be called. This was straightforward, and the wait passed quickly. As soon as we boarded, we headed straight for lunch. There are several dining options on Disney Wonder:
Cabanas – the buffet restaurant, open for breakfast and lunch.
Outdoor eateries – serving quick bites.
Rotational dining restaurants – on embarkation day, Tiana’s Place was open for a sit-down meal (all Disney ships follow the same embarkation lunch menu).
We always choose the sit-down meal to start our cruise in a relaxed way. After lunch, we explored the ship before heading to our stateroom, which was ready for us. It was lovely to drop off our bags and settle in for the next seven nights.

Muster Drill & Sail Away
Before we knew it, it was time for the muster drill, a mandatory safety briefing that familiaries guests with their assembly station in case of emergency.
After that, many guests rushed to the Mickey’s Sail-A-Wave Party, but we opted to head to the top deck to watch the ship pass under the famous Lions Gate Bridge—which was an amazing sight!
Evening Plans
We returned to our stateroom to unpack and get ready for the evening. First stop: French Quarter Lounge for live music and a drink, followed by Cadillac Lounge before heading to our evening meal at Triton’s.
Triton’s transports you to an under-the-sea atmosphere, and as expected, the food was lovely. We also met our table guests, making for a fantastic first dinner. After that, we called it a night to rest up for our busy week ahead!

Day 2: Sea Day
We spent the day exploring the ship and attending an Alaska talk, which was super interesting—I highly recommend going to one of these talks!
Shopping & Formal Night
Shopping was a highlight today! Disney Alaskan merch is always on point, and while I wanted to buy everything, I stuck to just a few essentials.
Tonight was formal night. Disney is very laid-back with dress codes—you can dress up if you want, but it’s not required.
The evening started with Captain’s Drinks in the atrium, featuring live music and a lovely atmosphere. This was our first formal night (Disney only has formal nights on cruises over 7 nights).
Ready for our first formal night
The Golden Mickeys & Palo Dinner
Tonight’s show was The Golden Mickeys, a Broadway-style awards show featuring Disney characters from various films. We absolutely adored it!
Golden Mickeys - Broadway style show
For dinner, we had something special planned—Palo. This adults-only fine dining restaurant requires an extra fee and must be pre-booked (it’s a hard-to-get reservation, so book early!). As always, the meal was fabulous.
Day 3: Glacier Viewing
What can I say about this day? It was breathtaking. The sun was out, and the scenery was simply stunning—no photos can do it justice. This is something you must experience in person.
Disney Characters in Alaskan Outfits
One of the highlights of an Alaskan Disney Cruise is seeing the characters in their Alaska-themed outfits. You won’t find these outfits anywhere else!
Mickey Mouse – Fisherman’s outfit
Minnie Mouse – Eskimo-inspired look
Pluto – Alaskan-themed collar
Goofy – Skiing outfit
Donald & Daisy Duck – Plaid outfits (adorable!)
Tender Boat to Stikine Icecap
Today, guests had the option to take a tender boat to get closer to Stikine Icecap. We chose to stay on the ship, and we still got a fantastic view from our vantage point.
Dinner at Tiana’s Place
Tonight’s dinner was at my favorite restaurant on the ship, Tiana’s Place—and as always, the food was incredible.
Final Thoughts
This is just the first part of my Alaskan cruise series! I really hope you’ve enjoyed reading about our adventure so far and that you’re excited to hear more.
Until next time, keep dreaming big, traveling far, and creating memories that last a lifetime.
See you soon!
